Holidays! Tips and Tricks!

Whether you celebrate Easter, Passover, or something else entirely, it is one of our holiday season times which means extra planning and precautions need to be taken to ensure protocol can be followed. My in-laws are visiting this weekend and we made the decision to go out to a steakhouse for easter lunch since my fiancé and I are on protocol and they are on a modified ketosis diet, which made it easier to navigate and make healthier choices, but what about if you are eating at other people’s homes?


  1. Talk with the host/hostess and let them know about your program if they don’t already know you are on it to get more information. Knowledge is power and hopefully most people will be understanding. Through this process you can find out what will be served at the dinner and if you can bring anything to share (particularly a side dish that is protocol to use and share with others.)
  2. Worried of snacking on candy and other no-nos there, how about pack a snack bag of precut veggies, an IP chips packet with some pre-measured out approved salsa in a tupperware container? I am a fan of Casa Sanchez medium salsa and it is 100% protocol.
  3. Drink lots of water. You may end up eating more protein, salt etc that you didn’t plan to eat and the water will help flush it out. I will also be traveling with my IP water enhancers to make my water or sparkling water (I have sparkling water once a week) and it looks like you have a fancy cocktail!
  4. In the event that you have no control over what the hostess is serving and would not like you to bring a side, do your best to stick to the proteins and veggies that you can eat. We don’t always have control over the situations we are in, but the best thing we can do is try to stick as close to protocol as we possibly can.
